Breathing quality air is a part of living a healthy life. Even indoors, there are types of mold and bacteria that can hinder air quality. This can lead to illness and harm the overall quality of life. Air filters help reduce the chances of contracting airborne diseases. Recent studies have been done on indoor air quality and how it affects the quality of life. It has been estimated that people spend 90% of their lives indoors due to sleeping, work, transportation, etc. It is crucial for people with breathing problems like asthma to check indoor air quality. Asthma medications work better when the person taking them is breathing the best possible air. Investing in air filtration is a great way to improve lung health, even if you don’t have asthma. [1]

A recent study has tested how coating air filters with antimicrobial agents affects air quality. The results of the study found that the air filters catch the virus, which helps in the prevention of respiratory infection. When air filters have too thick of a coating, it impacts the airflow. More research needs to be done on different air filters. [2]

Other studies have been conducted on children with asthma, as asthma is fairly common in young children. The fine particles that cause asthma symptoms in children were significantly reduced. After three weeks of continuous use of indoor air filters, the frequency of asthma medication was reduced considerably. As of December 2022, studies are currently being done on how indoor air filters affect seasonal allergies. There has not been enough data to support a conclusion. However, the results look promising. Even if you do not have breathing issues like asthma, purchasing an air filter for your home can be helpful. Air filters trap various bacteria that can lead to infections or diseases. It is important to change the air filters in your car as well to prevent chemicals from the roads and the engine from entering your lungs.
